THE DEBUTANTE BALL
The first show of the new Millennium will be the Houston Premiere of Beth
Henley's THE DEBUTANTE BALL. Recently released after playing for several
years in New York, this dark comedy, set in Hattiesburg, Mississippi,
revolves around a young southern belle's "coming out". As the play unfolds, secrets emerge: an unwanted pregnancy, an illicit romance self-mutilation, mendacity and murder. Polite facades crumble and ugly truths twist and polka across the ballroom floor. This is a play about the price of secrets and the power that love and lovelessness hold over our lives. THE
DEBUTANTE BALL will open January 21st and will close February 26th.

SPIKE HEELS
SPIKE HEELS by Theresa Rebeck will fill the spring slot. Pygmalion goes awry in this
dark comedy of manners which explores sexual harassment, misplaced amour, and the
possbllity of a four-sided love triangle. SPIKE HEELS will open March 17th and run
through April 22nd.

FAITHFUL

FAITHFUL by Chaz Palminteri ushers in the summer. This three-character
comedy / thriller about infidelity and murder follows the strange symbiotic relationship of
a wife who is planning to commit suicide, her husband who has hired someone to kill
her, and the man he has hired who is caught in the middle. Roles and allegiances shift.
Who has hired whom? Is the hitman really a hitman? And ultimately, who will die?
FAITHFUL will open May 19th and will close June 24th.

SATURDAY NIGHT IN UNCERTAIN

The summer offering is the World- Premiere of. SATURDAY NIGHT IN UNCERTAIN, a
play by Anabelle Weenick, a Texas bom playwright now residing in Florida. This quirky
love story follows the trials and tribulations of the inhabitants of a local bar in Uncertain,
Texas and what happens when love and lust go awry. SATURDAY NIGHT IN
UNCERTAIN will open July 14th and will close August l9th.

Dates and ties are subject to change. Directors for the entire season have not been
secured. GeorgeBrock will direct THE DEBUTANTE BALL and Kate Revnell-Smith will
direct HABEUS CORPUS. Anyone wishing to audition for the season who did not
attend the Coaliton Auditions should contact Actors Theatre of Houston irnrnediately to
express interest and to provide the staff with a headshot and resume.

Actors Theatre of Houston plays Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm and Sundays at
2pm. Single show tickets are $14, $10 for students and seniors. We accept VISA,
