THE ASHLAND ST. THEATRE CO.
OPENS IN THE HEIGHTS
HOUSTON - Artistic Director Travis Ammons and Producers Vaughn Monroe Dampier and
Don Poston announce the opening of the Ashland St. Theatre Co., a new live theatre venue in the
Heights that offers Houston premiers, startling new works and popular favorites. Every summer
the theatre will offer original scripts by Houston playwrights. The theatre's first production is the
Houston premiere of the Broadway hit "'THINGS YOU SHOULDN'T SAY PAST MIDNIGHT"
by Peter Ackerman and directed by Houston theatre veteran Ron Jones. The next production,
Nicky Silver's "FAT MEN IN SKIRTS", will be directed by Chris Jimmerson, Artistic Director
for Unhinged Productions. The theatre has attracted many talented local playwrights and
directors, among them Jason Nodler of Infernal Bridegroom Productions, Lisa Marie Singerman
and Joey Bemer. They will be working with the theatre later in the season, with shows to be
announced.
Artistic Director Travis Ammons comments, "We are excited to be offering powerful theatre once
again to the Heights. Ashland St. Theatre Co. will be the place to see cutting-edge new theatre,
undiscovered plays by popular playwrights, as well as favorites past and present. We want to
bring in a variety of directors, each with his/her own style, and give them the kind of freedom that
brings about unique creations. We are especially pleased to be offering Houston playwrights the
opportunity to have their work produced professionally.
