HOUSTON, TX- Olympic gymnast turned Tony-nominated musical theatre actress
CATHY RIGBY will take to the road to reprise her starring Broadway role as
The Cat in the Hat in the national tour of SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL, a Houston
premiere production coming September 24-29, 2002. This full-of-frivolity
family musical ushers in the inaugural season of AT&T WIRELESS BROADWAY IN
HOUSTON at the new Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets go on
sale Sunday, August 11, 2002

Created by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, the Tony Award® winning team
that brought to the stage the critically acclaimed musicals Ragtime and
Once On This Island, SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL is a family treat, exploring the
witty, wild and whimsical world of famed children's storyteller Theodor
Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss.

Drawing from Geisel's often-read children's classics like "The Cat in the
Hat," "Horton Hears A Who," "Green Eggs and Ham," "Yertle the Turtle" and
many more, this delightful musical mayhem brings together for the first
time many of his best-loved characters.

In a nutshell, the curtain rises on chaos erupting in the Jungle of Nool,
and it takes The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz,
Mayzie LaBird and a gaggle of other Dr. Seuss characters to bring harmony
back into their world.

Ms. Rigby, a two time Olympic gymnast, was the first American woman to win
a medal in the World Gymnastics competition and holds 12 international
medals, eight of them gold. She made her musical theatre debut in 1981 as Dorothy
in The Wizard of Oz and subsequently has starred in Annie Get Your Gun, The
Unsinkable Molly Brown, Meet Me in St. Louis, They're Playing Our Song,
Peter Pan and SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL, the latter two on Broadway.

She received a Tony® nomination as Best Actress in a Musical for her star turn
in Broadway's 35th Anniversary Production of Peter Pan in 1991. A few years
later on Broadway she reprised the role of Peter Pan and received a Best
Musical Revival Tony® nomination. That show subsequently aired on A&E
Network and is now available on Home Video/DVD.

"Do not miss the best family musical to hit Broadway in a long, long time!"
raved Jeffrey Lyons of NBC in his opening night review of SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL.
