Stage and screen star Michael Nouri stars opposite Erin Dilly in Rodgers &
Hammerstein's memorable and enduring classic, SOUTH PACIFIC, coming to
Houston's Jones Hall January 22-27, 2002 as part of the Broadway in Houston
six-show series. Tickets go on sale December 2, 2001.

Winner of nine Tony Awards, SOUTH PACIFIC is based on the Pulitzer Prize
winning novel, "Tales of the South Pacific" by James Michener and is the
recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Set during World War II, SOUTH
PACIFIC tells two love stories threatened by the perils of war and
prejudice. Nellie, a spunky nurse from Arkansas, falls for Emile de Beque,
a mature, widowed French planter whose children are of mixed race.
Concurrently, a young American, Lt. Joe Cable, finds his ingrained
prejudice at war with his love for the innocent Tonkinese girl, Liat.
Comic relief is provided by the boisterous native trader Bloody Mary, the
resourceful sailor Luther Billis and the high-spirited companies of nurses
and sailors.

Co-starring with Nouri as 'Emile de Becque' will be Erin Dilly as 'Nellie
Forbush.' Other featured actors include stage, television and film actress
Armelia McQueen as 'Bloody Mary,' David Warshofsky as 'Luther Billis,'
Lewis Cleale as 'Lt. Joe Cable,' Kisha Howard as 'Liat,' John Wilkerson
and James Judy.

Most recently Nouri appeared on Broadway in Victor/Victoria, starring
opposite Julie Andrews. Musical theatre work includes Funny Girl at the
esteemed Sundance Institute and Call Me Madam at the Freud Playhouse in
Los Angeles. His most recent feature film roles include Heart of a
Champion, 61* directed by Billy Crystal in which he portrays Joe DiMaggio
and Finding Forrester, starring Sean Connery and directed by Gus Van Sant.
His other feature credits include Goodbye Columbus, Flashdance and The
Hidden for which he won the Best Actor Award at the Avoriaz Film Festival.
He was a series regular on CBS Love and War and NBC's Bay City Blues.
Mini-series include: The Doris Duke Story, Rage of Angels, The Last
Convertible and The Gangster Chronicles.

Erin Dilly was most recently seen on Broadway as 'Young Phyllis' in
Follies and prior to that starred in the U.S. premiere of Cameron
Mackintosh's Martin Guerre, for which she received a Helen Hayes nomination
as Best Actress. She also starred as 'Belle in the National Tour of Beauty
& The Beast.'

Producers of this national 50-week tour, which opened in Ohio in
September, are Barry and Fran Weisslerin association with Clear Channel
Entertainment. Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks is production supervisor,
while exciting newcomer Scott Faris directs and choreography is by Gary
Chryst. Most recently Scott Faris directed the international companies of
Chicago in Australia, Austria, Sweden and London and was the director for
EFX starring Michael Crawford in Las Vegas. Gary Chryst choreographed
Nijinsky in Japan and reproduced the Chicago choreography in London,
Sweden, Australia and Argentina. The lighting design is by Tony Award
winner Ken Billington and Derek McLane has designed the sets.

The Broadway in Houston series engagement of SOUTH PACIFIC plays at the
Jones Hall from Tuesday, Jan. 22, through Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002.
Performances are Tuesday-Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
with matinees at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets for the special
