ABOUT THE SHOW:

Prepare yourself for a red-blooded, two-fisted, all-American holiday with little Ralphie Parker in A Christmas Story. Making its yuletide debut in Houston, the clever musical adaption of the 1983 comedic film is set for the Hobby Center stage, December 8 – 20. Complete with familiar elements including the iconic leg lamp, the pink bunny suit, and the tongue-on-the-frozen-flag-pole - A Christmas Story is far and away the most fun you’ll have this holiday season!

Set in Indiana, A Christmas Story is based on several semi-autobiographical short stories by author and storyteller, Jean Shepherd. Interest in these stories arose after readings of “Duel in the Snow, or Red Ryder Nails the Cleveland Street Kid” and “Flick’s Tongue” on Shepherd’s WOR Radio talk show. A film adaption was subsequently made and opened in November of 1983 to moderate success; mainly due to lack of popularity of holiday-themed movies at the time. In the years since, due to television airings and home video release, A Christmas Story has become widely popular and is now an annual special.

In November 2012, a musical based on the filmed opened to positive reviews on Broadway. Following its sold-out engagement, A Christmas Story was nominated for three Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score.

Breakfast With Santa: Dec. 12, 2015 or 19, 9:00 a.m. Have Breakfast With Santa at the Downtown Aquarium featuring a full breakfast buffet meal of scrumptious eats, and watch as Scuba Santa spreads his holiday cheer. After breakfast enjoy a full day Aquarium pass featuring rides and attractions including the new Stingray Reef Exhibit. Package also includes 10% off tickets to the matinee performance of A Christmas Story.
