TUTS PRESENTS THE NATIONAL TOUR
OF TIM RICE’S AND ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER’S
EVITA
MAY 6 – 18, 2014
MAY 6 - 18, 2014 AT HOBBY CENTER
(HOUSTON) – Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) invites Houstonians to experience the passion and seduction of the Tony Award®-winning elegant masterpiece EVITA, running May 6 – 18, 2014 at Hobby Center’s Sarofim Hall.
Eva Perón used her beauty and charisma to
rise meteorically from the slums of Argentina to the presidential mansion as
First Lady. Adored by her people as a champion for the poor, she became one of
the most powerful women in the world — while her greed, outsized ambition and
fragile health made her one of the most tragic. EVITA
tells Eva's passionate and unforgettable true story, and features some of
theatre's most beautiful songs, including "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," "Another
Suitcase in Another Hall" and "High Flying, Adored."
Directed by Tony and Olivier Award-winner
Michael Grandage and choreographed by Tony Award® winner
Rob Ashford, this is the first new Broadway production of the
seven-time Tony Award®-winning musical since it debuted on Broadway more than 30
years ago. The New York Post said “The wait was worth it: packed with memorable
tunes, EVITA is a modern masterpiece!”
EVITA stars Caroline Bowman as Eva
Peron, Tony Award®-nominee Josh Young as Che and Sean
McLaughlin as Juan Peron. The cast also features Christopher
Johnstone as Magaldi and Krystina Alabado as the
Mistress.
Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, the famed
duo who wrote the music and lyrics for EVITA, have long
been involved in the musical theatre world. They are the same creative duo
behind the smash hits Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and
Jesus Christ Superstar. Webber’s other works include Cats,
Starlight Express, Sunset Boulevard, Aspects of Love
and The Phantom of the Opera. Webber’s awards include seven Tony
Awards®, three Grammy Awards®, seven Olivier Awards, a Golden Globe, an Oscar,
two International Emmys, the Praemium Imperiale, the Richard Rodgers Award for
Excellence in Musical Theatre and the Kennedy Center Honor. Rice’s other works

DON'T CRY FOR ME ARGENTINA
It won't be easy
You'll think it strange
When I try to explain how I feel
That I still need your love
After all that I've done
You won't believe me
All you will see
Is a girl you once knew
Although she's dressed up to the nines
At sixes and sevens with you
I had to let it happen
I had to change
Couldn't stay all my life down at heel
Looking out of the window
Staying out of the sun
So I chose freedom
Running around trying everything new
But nothing impressed me at all
I never expected it too
Don't
cry for me Argentina
The truth is I never left you
All through my wild days
My mad existence
I kept my promise
Don't keep your distance
And as for fortune and as for fame
I never invited them in
Though it seemed to the world
They were all I desired
They are illusions
They're not the solutions
They promise to be
The answer was here all the time
I love you and hope you love me
Don't cry for me Argentina
Don't cry for me Argentina
The truth is I never left you
All through my wild days
My mad existence
I kept my promise
Don't keep your distance
Have
I said to much?
There's nothing more I can think of to say to you
But all you have to do
Is look at me to know
That every word is true
