Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, Alley Theatre's ExxonMobil Summer Chills Features Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap and Larry Shue's The Foreigner

All Tickets $17

Houston, TX - This season's ExxonMobil Summer Chills series at the Alley Theatre feature two enticing summer titles - The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie and Larry Shue's delightful comedy The Foreigner. Artistic Director Gregory Boyd will direct The Mousetrap; while Alley Theatre Resident Company Actor James Black will helm Larry Shue's THE FOREIGNER with a preview Friday, July 25th, 2003 and performances through August 10th, 2003.

ExxonMobil funding for this series provides fun for the whole family with suspense-filled theatre experiences at the desirable price of only $17 per ticket.

In Larry Shue's comedy THE FOREIGNER, Charlie and his friend Froggy leave their native England for a getaway to a remote fishing lodge in backwoods Georgia. When Froggy has to leave Charlie with hostess Betty and her entourage of bizarre friends, he saves his extremely shy friend from conversation by telling everyone that Charlie doesn't speak English. With Charlie communicating only in gibberish, people indiscriminately spill their secrets in his presence. A series of silly situations and hilarious interchanges comes to a climax when Charlie and the motley crew of lodge guests must confront the mean-spirited Owen Musser.

THE FOREIGNER features Alley Theatre Resident Company Actors James Black (also directing) as Owen Musser, Bettye Fitzpatrick as Betty Meeks, Elizabeth Heflin as Catherine Simms, Paul as Sergeant "Froggy" Le Seur, John Tyson as Ellard Simms and Todd Waite as Reverend David Marshall Lee. Alley regular Jeffrey Bean is Charlie Baker.

The design team for Exxon Mobil Summer Chills includes scenic designer Linda Buchanan (Alley's You Can't Take it With You) and Kevin Rigdon (Alley's Stones in His Pockets), costume design by Daryl A. Stone (Alley's The Goat or Who is Sylvia?), lighting design by Michael Lincoln (Alley's And Then There Were None), and sound design by Joe Pino (Alley's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?).
